Dylaz Go Marching In!
Ndiaini Girls’ High School is a renowned giant in games and sports within and without Nyeri County. The school administration, headed by the principal, Dr. Phyllis Muturi, has invested heavily on physical facilities and empowerment of human resources required for our girls to grow wholesomely as they utilize their talents in co-curricular activities. In Term 1, we participate in handball, cross country and athletics.
In handball this year, our girls were able to rise to the sub-county semi-finals. In cross country, one of our girls, Alice Nyawira Maina (Form 1 South), fought all athletes from Mukurwe-ini Sub-county and proceeded to Nyeri County Finals at Nyeri High School, where she emerged number 21. The department encourages her to continue practicing in and out of season for she has a bright future in the athletic world.
The school soccer and volleyball teams are already upbeat in anticipation for Term 2 activities. We have already held some friendly tournaments with neighboring schools like Gatugi Mixed Day from Othaya and more are on line. Our soccer team outshined our guest’s by humbling them with 4 goals to Nil. We congratulate our soccer team.
Our supportive principal has promised to provide the required items that the teams require for better results. She has promised a new set of sports uniform, sports socks, knee caps, branded track suits for the couches, sports shoes for the volleyball team and goalie regalia.
In order to provide wide-range games disciplines, our principal has already authorized construction of a modern table tennis practice room and refurbishment of the tennis table. The Games Department is very grateful and more motivated by this show of commitment.
We are looking forward to going beyond Nyeri County in Term 2 activities as we line up more build-up friendly tournaments in readiness for the competitions. We thank God that we have not encountered any injuries during the past Term 1 competitions.
Mr. Maina
